Written by Warren Paul Glover

It’s a flicker fest of failed flights
as the departure board
dances down its disappointments
to tired travellers, of the business and tourist type,
who won’t be getting home ‘til late tonight.
Or who’ll run to their connections
hoping they’ve not lost
a connection
to what they hold dear:
that well-earned holiday, that break away.
A family event. Or a mission to save a friend.
From what? Themselves?
The storm clears. Departures near.
Moods improve.
Travellers cheer.
